Each of Sage’s 14,000+ employees will have an opportunity to contribute five days per year in work time to volunteer with any non-profit organization they choose to support. The Sage Foundation will also give grants to create entrepreneurial opportunities for the young and disadvantaged, as well as grants to match employee charitable donations and fundraising.
The Sage Foundation has created a model of ‘2+2+2’: donating 2% of employee time each year (5 days), 2% of free cash flow* and 2 of Sage’s smart technology products for any charity, social enterprise or non-profit organization.
This new program comes on the heels of another recent announcement about a joint venture between Sage and Salesforce.com, a company known for their philanthropic endeavors. It seems the Sage Foundation was largely born from that new partnership.
“It’s great to see plans for the Sage Foundation and its support for the philanthropic model we pioneered at Salesforce,” said Marc Benioff, Chairman and CEO of Salesforce. “By integrating philanthropy into its culture on a global scale, Sage can make a difference in the lives of millions of people around the world.”
Read the Official press release on the Sage website for more information about the Sage Foundation program.
*The Sage Foundation will benefit from Sage revenues from the non-profit sector; notionally ‘2%’ of free cash flow is equivalent to revenue gained from non-profit sector in FY2014.
Announcing the First Ever Sage ERP X3 Hackathon
Deepak Chopra and Colin Powell Added as Sage Summit Speakers
Sage recently held the first-ever Sage ERP X3 Hackathon. The growing "hackathon" trend (also known as a hackfest or codefest) provides a hyper-productive environment where programmers and designers meet up to share new ideas and demonstrate their skills in a fun and competitive way.
Four global teams comprising Sage X3 developers, designers, product owners and quality engineers pulled an “all-nighter” during this 24-hour competition that ran from noon one day until noon the next. Each team was given a development topic to work on with the goal of providing a demonstration-ready feature at the end of the competition.
By all accounts, the first hackathon was a huge success and others are already planned for the future. And even though the teams were competing for a coveted prize, teamwork and a willingness to help one another (even across teams) ruled the day.
Perhaps most important, the Sage X3 team learned to innovate and achieve tangible results in a very short time. And who knows, maybe some of the innovative ideas created at the hackathon will show up in the next release of Sage ERP X3!
