Sage 100 Contractor 2017 Release
The 2017 release of Sage 100 Contractor (aka Version 20.5) is now available.  In addition to a number of minor issues and bug fixes addressed in this release, it also incorporates a number of functional enhancements that were specifically requested by existing customers.

So here’s a look at the new and improved Sage 100 Contractor Version 2017.

Enhancements in Sage 100 Contractor 2017

Several of the enhanced features and improvements in Version 2017 come straight from customers that submitted requests through the Sage 100 Contractor Ideas Submission website. Here’s a look at just some of those ideas:

Unlimited Custom Fields - in most screens, you can now create an unlimited number of custom fields to track information – unique to your business - that you want to store and report on with your Sage 100 Contractor database.

Increase the Accuracy of Your Bids - you can now tag rows in the Takeoffs grid, marking them for future follow up, to ensure you don’t miss important details.

Different Company Colors - you can now apply different display colors to each company desktop so you can easily distinguish one from another when you have multiple companies open at the same time.

Filtered Cost Code Searches - in look-up windows, you can now filter cost codes by job and phase, saving tons of time and eliminating incorrect cost code entries.

Expanded Entry Field Capacity – Sage has expanded the character capacity of most fields (over 500 of them!) throughout Sage 100 Contractor. This was a highly-requested enhancement by lots of customers.

Correct Payroll Posting Period – accidentally set the wrong period when posting payroll records? Now you can now correct the period on payroll records and all associated records without voiding transactions and re-entering.

Schedule Unassigned Work Orders Faster – you can now filter unassigned work orders by a date range, helping you find and schedule most relevant work orders first.

Employee Setup Streamlined – you can setup new employees even faster now with the ability to copy mappings from one user to another.

Automatic Field Calculations – save time by letting Sage 100 Contractor do the math for you and see the results as you go.

This is just a sample of the many enhanced features that are included in the newest Version 2017 release.

Upgrading to Sage 100 Contractor 2017 (20.5)

As we wrote in a previous article, Sage 100 Contractor Now Runs on SQL Server.  If you’re upgrading from Version 19.8 or earlier (any non-SQL version), it’s important to note this change in the underlying database structure and the related server and system requirements that may be necessary before starting installation.

Although Sage 100 Contractor still has the same look and feel you’re familiar with on the “front end”, its new Microsoft SQL Server database structure offers much tighter security, faster system performance, and more reporting options.

In addition, a new and separate Database Administration Tool making it easy to take advantage of the robust database features without having to be a seasoned expert with SQL Server.
