Building on the foundation of the original introduction of Sage Copilot Chat last year, Sage X3 2026 takes AI to the next level with Agentic Chat and Conversational Queries.  These AI-driven features allow you to use natural language to query Sage X3 about your data, and then returns detailed insights, reports, and dashboards.
 
What’s more, you can add AI‑generated dashboard widgets to landing pages for real‑time visibility. With these contextual insights, this next-generation AI tool adapts to your current workspace, offering real‑time operational alerts and suggested actions.  It’s a smarter, more proactive way to stay ahead of issues before they become problems.
 
In short, you get more dynamic and detailed responses to a much wider variety of queries compared to the first-generation chat feature. It’s AI that not only answers questions but actively explores data, surfaces insights, and helps you take action.

Excel-Connect Reporting

Sage X3 2026 introduces Sage Business Reporting (SBR) - a major new reporting layer that connects Microsoft Excel directly to live Sage X3 data. This is a time-saving new tool that’s perfect for operational teams that manage their daily workflows in spreadsheets.
 
Key features of the new SBR platform include:

• Live ERP connectivity: Build and view up-to-date data models and dashboards directly within Microsoft Excel, pulling directly from Sage X3 to eliminate manual and time-consuming export routines.

 

• Cloud hosted reporting workspace: SBR features a cloud-hosted reporting workspace for secure collaboration across distributed finance teams.

 

• Secure writeback capabilities: the 2-way integration allows you to writeback from Excel into Sage X3 with secure, user-level permissions.

Distribution Enhancements

For container managed products, Mobile Automation tracking has been upgraded to automatically generate a new License Plate Number (LPN) based on your pre-defined container and stock rules, eliminating manual entry steps. 
 
To speed up the goods-in process for complex shipments, warehouse teams using Mobile Automation can now receive an entire purchase order simply by entering the container number directly within the Shipment by container transaction. 
 
With the introduction of the factory-standard SHIP import template, you can now bulk-import shipment tracking data directly into Sage X3, eliminating manual entry and streamlining the process.

Expanded APIs

The 2026 R1 release delivers one of the largest API expansions in recent years, especially for manufacturing, purchasing, and project management.
 
While focused more on the “back end” technical aspects of Sage X3, they still represent an important foundation for future improvements in consistency, stability and functionality that manifest themselves as “front end” features and streamlined workflow now and in the future.
 
In particular, this release strengthens the Manufacturing API framework to lay the groundwork for upcoming Mobile Automation, Web Scheduling, and Shop Floor Control capabilities.
