Sage recently announced the launch of Sage X3 Product Update 8. This latest version includes a collection of enhancements to several key areas of the product including Financial Management, Sales Management, Manufacturing, Inventory, and Purchasing. Let’s take a closer look.
Sales and Financial Management
A collection of new financial capabilities help to ensure compliance with new Euro-zone bank transfer standards (SEPA), improved management and control of fixed assets, and increased multi-legislation capabilities for businesses that manage international companies.
When it comes to Sales Management, a new control on sales credit notes prevent creation of notes that exceed amounts/quantities of the origin invoice. In addition, a new return status indicator (returned, partially returned, not returned) has been extended to all types of delivery. This allows you to track returns more easily at the transaction entry level as well as on inquiries and reports. Lastly, a new function allows for the creation and printing of a Bill of Lading (BOL).

Manufacturing Enhancements
New functionality allows tracking of manufactured products whose components have been identified as a food allergen. It can be used in enterprise planning to filter by allergens criteria. In addition, a new graphical scheduler that can be launched from a browser helps to improve manufacturing planning and optimization. Lastly, improved integration of barcode formats for re-control function as part of the weighing by product and work order. This function defines different areas of the barcode to read in order to do the rechecking.
Inventory and Purchasing
Inventory Management introduces two new Use By Dates (UBD). You can specify “UBD Lead Time” as a number of days before the deadline to sell or deliver a product, or specify a unique UBD based on customer needs. Improvements to Stock Shortage Adjustments as well as Packing Management were also added.
In Purchasing, Product Update 8 introduces the ability to generate and modify the quantities in a purchase order from a purchase request. New parameters have also been added for better control over minimum order amounts and purchase return management.
