Introducing Sage 300 Construction 17.1

Whats New in Sage 300 CRE 17.1
Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate (CRE) Version 17.1 is now available. This is one of the most significant new releases in a long time and it represents the first major milestone in the re-architecture of the software which will take place over the next several years. Here’s a closer look at why this release of Sage 300 CRE is so important.

What's Included in Sage 300 Construction 17.1?

Sage 300 CRE 17.1 on-premises installation includes:

Sage SQL Replicator – a new tool that converts the existing Pervasive database into a Microsoft SQL Server database in real-time. It lays the foundation for major future releases and mobile functionality. In this release, SQL Replicator also provides you with more flexible reporting options when querying from the SQL database using Crystal Reports or SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).

Mobile Projects – delivering much-needed mobile functionality in the field, the new Mobile Projects component will allow you to perform critical project management tasks anywhere on any mobile device.

Core System Updates – important core system updates necessary for future mobile functionality including Sage Exchange Desktop 2.0, .NET update (4.6.2), Crystal Runtime (13.0.19), and Service Management database updates for future Sage Service Operations functionality.

System Administrator – a tool designed to help you easily manage your Sage SQL database and perform database-related tasks including back-ups.

A Closer Look at Mobile Projects

The new and current release of Mobile Project delivers two key components: Daily Field Reports and Requests for Information (RFIs).  Together, they help you eliminate paperwork and duplicate data entry while improving coordination between the field and back office.

Sage Construction Central, the website access point for Mobile Projects and future offerings, is mobile-optimized so it’s easy to use on any device including smartphones.  Additional functionality like change requests and reporting will be delivered in phases over the next several releases.

In order to take advantage of Mobile Projects, you will need to:

  • Be on an active Sage Business Care plan
  • Own at least one license of Project Management (PJ)
  • Have version 17.1 installed and data upgraded
  • Have SQL Replicator installed and configured
  • Deploy the Sage Construction Central website through Microsoft Azure cloud services in order to use Mobile Projects outside of the internal company network. You will need a Microsoft Azure Active Directory Basic account, which is included with Mobile Projects.

A Closer Look at Sage SQL Replicator

The current Sage 300 Construction database works on a programming language called Pervasive.  The new Sage SQL Replicator represents the next generation of database technology for Sage 300 CRE. Its primary job is to take the existing Pervasive database and replicate it into a Microsoft SQL Version. It also serves as the foundation for the new Mobile Projects suite mentioned earlier.

With Sage SQL Replicator, your reports will run much faster. You’ll also have far more flexibility when it comes to reporting options and customization because you can run reports outside the software by simply querying the SQL database directly.
